Real Salt Lake Back On Top

RSL isn't letting anything get past them maintaining a ridiculous 0.40 Goals Against p/Game. I gotta say that Espindola and Beckerman for RSL are quickly becoming a couple of my favorite players in the MLS. It's going to be a big test for the Columbus Crew when they come to town this Wednesday.

San Jose's Lenhart had a fantastic header yesterday on route to helping the Earthquakes jump past a couple teams in the standings.

6-2-11 MLS Table(s), Presented by Matthew Delicâte

Wait... The River whats? Hey!

Ima posting up the first ever, one and only, new, free, + free shipping USL True table. Why the Dayton Dutch Lions not.

After running the numbers through Billy's computer machine it has been determined that Matthew Delicâte is (one of) the best players in the United Soccer League (USL Pro). Which, I'm starting to gather, is the highest level the USL has. In relationship to the MLS is it right below it and to the right. NASL is on the left. Not sure why these guys can't agree on getting together. Well, I do know. And they need to get back together now. The arguement in the US for promotion/relegation in my lifetime (by region, East/West, depends on it). Story for another day.

Matthew Delicâte is leading the league in my overall performance category and leading the league in my offensive list. In fact, he has been leading things in the USL for a while. This year he has 6 goals at 3 assists in 9.3 games played for the Richmond Kickers. Hey MLS! Crew? Anybody? Pick this Welshman up.

Okay. Here is the MLS table that includes last nights Chivas Whitecaps west coast only, past my bedtime matchup. I'm actually upset Chivas could only put one past the 'Caps. Table Update: 6-4-11
Let's go over the top with recent Richmond Kickers action. Way over.

MLS True Table - May 29th, 2011

LA takes the top spot this week, ho hum. The biggest news for me was The Philadelphia Union going goal crazy yesterday scoring SIX against Toronto FC yesterday. I was able to catch that game and I think they could have been a couple more. The Crew also opened up a little, scoring 3 themselves. I was left scratching my head on how they also allowed 3 though. Outside of a just plain good game by in form Chivas USA I'm thinking the defensive collapse was a combination of things that I'll get to later.

Only One Left for LA to Overtake

The Galaxy beat Houston last night 1-0. Dallas over Seattle 1-0 as well.

Jeff Larentowicz jumped up my player score list by scoring two last night for Colorado but New York and Colorado ended up at 2-2.

Henry. Donovan. Again last night.

MLS True Table, Extended

Now that Major League Soccer is 30% into their season I'm extending out the True Table to include per game averages in Goals For, Goals Against and Goal Difference. Relevant now as enough games have been played to give fans of their clubs a good idea of what they are working with the rest of the season.

Columbus, for one, was true to form last night loosing 1-0 to the Portland Timbers. I haven't had time to digest this game as I was welcoming in the latest edition to the Johnson household, Isaac! Congratulations Jim and Trish!

The game is running now and being dutifully uploaded for bleeno to review. I can see right off that their starting line up has been tweaked up front, no doubt in attempt to get more chances up front.

A lot of action yesterday, couple more games later today:
- I see that Helltown Power ranking favorite Philadelphia (and completely underrated in the nearly incompetent official MLS power rank) put in two against the Fire
- San Jose has fully woken up with a 2-1 win over the Revolution. Wondo, with an assist and win yesterday, is firmly on top of my player ratings. Go Wondo. In outstanding form and should get consideration for the USMNT (again).
- In another "official" MLS power ranking mystery, Houston draws with NY 2-2 (in Houston). I had Houston 5th and MLS - 10th.
- Big game later today for Real Salt Lake and Dallas. A couple of the best teams in the league.

Edit: True Table updated to reflect games played May 22nd.

To the Middle With Ye

Columbus Crew playing past their sleepy time drop to the middle of the table. Dallas and the Galaxy open up with a mess of goals. Beckham; vintage bend.Helltown will take a look at the important Crew loss soon. I hope bleeno has the windows open when he watches this Crew outing. San Jose played very well. If you're an Earthquakes fan, you don't have to do anything with your windows.

(something) Columbus Crew (something)

Crew won last night.

Trying to figure out a good way to title my Crew posts. We have a station here in Columbus called ONN HD of which allows me to see games at home. I should have gone to the game last night. It was cold, windy and rainy. AKA; storming. I like those kind of games in Columbus. Wanna come play against the Crew before June? Bring your freakin' long johns, raincoat and stern constitution.

So last night. The Crew played against the wind, cold, rain and Sporting KC. The wind was clearly blowing one direction and was seriously impeding the team facing it. I checked the match stats this morning and that played out.

Shots against the wind - Crew: 4 KC: 3

Shots with the wind - Crew: 10 KC: 6

Robbie Rodgers ended up having a goal in the second half with the wind.

Tom Heinemann came on early in the second half (after the goal) and played like a man possessed. I also like the way Ekpo played the game. Gaven had a couple great chances in the second half that didn't pan out, but even with his sort of 'stoop to the shoulders' attitude I think he played well. I contend that he is probably the best player on the pitch most nights and he knows it.

----------------------------------

I have a lot of bones to pick with the MLS and the way the show league tables. My biggest bone is the break between Eastern and Western Conferences. They all play each other twice (double round robin system) so that's 34 league games. I understand have two conferences keeps most of the country geographically involved for the playoffs. I get that. But if you want to do that change it to 3 games against own conf and 1 out.

What I have at the top of this post is what the crazy people in the rest of the world call a "true table". It is based on Points earned per game since at anytime teams could have played a different number of games.

Next bone to pick is that it is a Draw not a Tie. And when referring to team records it is not W-L-T. It is W-D-L. This ain't hockey MLS.

Thank you.
