OHIO The Whalewatchers
The way i see my winter drive to work through the music of The Whalewatchers. I drive south through, Columbus towards Groveport and through Obetz, the Southend. Then back up past Hamilton Township on Corr Road, past Columbus Steel Castings (Buckeye Steel), and home to the Brewery District. Ohio. Rock n Roll.

Required Weather Follow Up
Wrong. I think there might have been about a quarter of an inch on the ground this morning. I think it snowed all day, but it was one of those snows that happen a lot around here. Anyway, everything is getting frozen right now and we are expecting more snow tomorrow. Snow fine... 7 degrees? not so fine.
Either way, the forecasting was wrong. Looking at the websites the spend a lot of ink on what happened in the northern part of the state. Folks... it always snows up there. I keep promising myself that it isn't worth the time, not worth thinking about. But dude... so bad. so. so. bad.
Yeah, I watch tonight... see what they have to say about tomorrow. The weather underground is predicting a few inches. I'll go with that.

Weather Round Two
Last year I just about lost my mind with the local weather people here in Columbus. I know some of my frustration comes with the region. I love snow, always have. I don't mind the cold. I grew up in the mountains. However, I spent a good part of a decade in North Carolina. Where snow is rare, and temps below 20 are even rarer. So the winter here does drag after a bit.
It's just getting started up here, and I'm trying to get use to that fact. But one thing, ONE THING, I'm not going to get use to is the incorrect forecasting. Not just a little wrong, a lot wrong. So, anyway, the 'First Warning' team over at Fox 28 is calling for 2" of snow tomorrow morning. We'll see Mr. Martz, we. shall. see.
Over on NBC Jym Ganahl is teasing me with his forecast... waiting... COME ON! While we are waiting, let me just say that NBC 4 here in Columbus was terrible in their predictions last year. Even when making predictions made in the morning for that afternoon's weather they were wrong. For the couple weeks I watched them they could have predicted rain every day and got it right more then what they did. Their temps weren't just off they had a variance of 20 degrees. In other words it could have been 32 that day or 52. Whatever... Alright, we are back... give it to me Jym... ok. Snow all day, same as Fox 28... wait a bigger snow on Wednesday!? Tomorrow. Focus Jym... 1-3" inches 20 degrees. I got you.
7 degrees on Friday. Wonderful.

The 2008 Game
It's over now. Lots of games have been played during 'that' year. I have to say I've had a lot of fun doing it. I've really enjoyed starting a good collection of games and (working) consoles. So I feel it is sort of important to look back at the better ones...
First off, I'll have to say right now I'm enjoying Rock Band 2... as a drummer. I've had a lot of fun playing this with Audrea, and look forward to many more nights doing so.
But what is the best game I've played this year? Well, that would be Call of Duty IV. Folks, I have to say that this game, with out a doubt in my mind, takes the prize. I played the hell out of it. Offline and on. It ranks up there with my favorites of all time.
A couple other games worth checking out are Rez HD (XBOX Live), XXIII (PS2), and Brothers in Arms, Hell's Highway (XBOX 360). If you still have a Genesis, check out Comix Zone. Great game. I had a lot of fun playing those games. Fallout 3 (XBOX 360) is a good game for those with the time to immerse themselves in it and Assassin's Creed, which actually came out last November, is definitely worth checking out if you haven't already. Civilization Revolution on the 360 is a great time too.
It's worth noting that Rockstar's magnum opus GTAIV is just on another complete level.
As for 2009? I'm looking forward to it. 'Stoked', believe it or not, is the first game on my list, coming out later this month. Hopefully, Operation Flashpoint comes out later this year along with the much delayed new Splinter Cell.
As for the time being? I'm drumming away at Rock Band 2. I'm putting on my scull cap here in a few minutes and pretend I'm Mike D wailing away at the drums for the first time for 'So Watcha Want'.
What a good gaming 2008! Happy New Year!
