A busy week with a wide array of leagues, friendlies, college soccer, and Wrexham.
Highlights/Lowlights:
• The MLS regular season wraps up with a "Decision Day" event that saw teams playing at the same time. This last-day event led, like last year, to poor TV ratings on ESPN2 and FS1. Spreading their small viewer base across many games is what they do everything to avoid during most of the year. It's a reason why you don't see a "regular" schedule.
• England scores big in the US again like they did over the Summer during the Euro's. This time it was the United States Women who traveled only to get beat by the champions of Europe. I classify this match as a "big event," which means I don't think it represents any growth or future growth of things like the NWSL or the FAWSL. It's nice, but we've see this sort of thing for a long time on US TV.
• ESPN decided to test the Welcome to Wrexham waters and found them fine. 201k for a debut episode of the normal FX series (that also pulls around the same number). ESPN will be showing a match this weekend.
• Women's College Soccer makes an appearance this week. 107k on ESPN.
• The Premier League and Liga MX continue their solid run this fall.
