More or less a Premier League-only week now that Liga MX and MLS are out of season (speaking of; YOY numbers for them below).
Highlights/Lowlights:
• ShowBuzzDaily / Nielsen numbers are delayed this week so I'm missing the Newcastle v Chelsea NBC match. I will update when it becomes available.
• Southampton v Liverpool pulls a strong 501k + 107k on Universo.
• Universo's coverage of the Premier League seems to be the beneficiary of Spanish-speaking soccer fans looking for content. Nearly every simulcast PL game on the network pulled a number.
• USWNT back to back with Germany pulled nearly identical numbers despite being on two different networks suggesting that the "core" viewership base for WNT is around 300k (to me anyway).
YEAR-OVER-YEAR NUMBERS
Neither Liga MX nor MLS had much to talk about in regard to viewership numbers vs. last year. I don't have last year's numbers for Univision, but here's the rest...
• Liga MX on TUDN was flat/up slightly YOY (+5%)
• MLS was flat on FOX, -6% on ESPN, -12% on FS1, -15% on ABC YOY.
• MLS on Span-lang networks look about flat (most games don't pull a number on FOXD and ESPND).
